One of the questions I get asked the most is: Where can we eat like a local? The answer: tapas bars. Not fancy restaurants, not tourist traps—just cozy, often loud, gloriously chaotic tapas joints where life spills out onto the street.

Did you know ? Sevilla has most tapas bars per inhabitant in all Spain.

Make tapas hopping an important part of your stay in Seville. You will not regret it……….

Tapas are all about picar, nibbling, sharing, and moving on. Like a culinary flamenco—quick, vibrant, and full of flair.

Here are some of my all-time favorites and both the most antique and some of the new once.

  1. El Rinconcillo – The oldest bar in Seville (since 1670!). Start with espinacas con garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas) and a cold beer.
  2. Eslava – A little more modern, but their honey-glazed ribs are legendary. Worth the wait.
  3. Bodega Santa Cruz (Las Columnas) – Right by the Cathedral, and somehow still authentic. Try the solomillo al whisky.
  4. La Azotea – Great for fresh seafood. Go for the tuna tartare or their seasonal specials.
  5. Casa Morales – Old-school charm, cured meats hanging overhead, and great montaditos (mini sandwiches).
  6. Ovejas Negras – Trendy and creative. Their truffled eggplant and mini burgers are a must.
  7. Dos de Mayo – Beloved by locals for big portions and great prices. Don’t miss the grilled octopus.
  8. La Brunilda – Upscale tapas in a relaxed setting. Try the prawn tempura or Iberian pork cheek.
  9. Contenedor – A slow food kitchen with a rotating menu of bold flavors.
  10. Blanca Paloma – Traditional Triana favorite with strong local flavor. Try the fried fish and salmorejo.
  11. Bar Alfalfa – Small, lively, and full of charm. Perfect for a glass of wine and some jamón.
  12. Las Golondrinas – Hidden in Triana, their presa Ibérica is famous.
  13. Vinería San Telmo – Extensive wine list and top-tier tapas with a creative touch.
  14. Taberna Peregil – Try the orange wine (vino de naranja) with a tapa of chorizo or queso viejo.
  15. La Bartola – Modern Andalusian fusion and a stylish atmosphere.
